The Merlot grape variety originates in France, in the region of Bordeux and in Portugal is mainly found in the area of Bairrada. The bunches are formed by medium purple and blueish black berries. Maturation early to medium and sensitivity to mildew and rot. The wines from this breed have little alcoholic strength and few tannins, extremely fruity, with notes of red fruits like cherry and raspberry.
Similar to the Cabernet Sauvignon wine, but not so intense, it produces full-bodied, rich and low-acid wines. Complex and elegant aromas.
