Trincadeira is a variety that is especially cultivated in the areas of Alentejo and Douro (where is designated by Tinta Amarela). The variety presents medium and compact bunches and medium and round berries. It is sensitive to diseases and rottenness (if the berries get soaked will deteriorate easily), for that it grows better in dry and very hot climates. The produced wines are rich in colour and aromas, lightly alcoholic and with good ageing conditions.
