Chardonnay is planted in almost every wine-producing region. In Portugal, it spreads for the whole country, but with larger incidence in the area of Beiras, Estremadura and Trás-os-Montes. This is the favourite variety of Champagne area and it is for that very used in foamy and white sweet wines. The berries are green yellowish and they mature precocious. The wines, balanced and reasonably acid, full bodied and fruity, adapt well to aging. The aromas are toasted and fruity.
